Description

Part 1

Automated Sample Preparation for HPLC and GC Users

Sample preparation is often regarded by chromatographers as a major bottleneck in the analysis workflow. Automated sample preparation methods can offer analysts numerous solutions to address this challenge. The expert panelists will discuss the latest advances in automated sample preparation, the benefits that automation can offer the analyst, and practical advice for implementing automated approaches to sample preparation.

The panelists for this session are Carlo Bicchi of the University of Torino, in Italy; Jonas Bergquist of the Biomedical Centre at Uppsala University, in Sweden; Luigi Mondello of the University of Messina, in Italy, and Frank David of the Research Institute for Chromatography, in Kortrijk, Belgium

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Types of sample preparation methods, and the steps in the sample preparation process that can be automated
  • The benefits of automating the sample preparation process for chromatographers
  • Recent developments and practical examples of automated sample preparation for HPLC and GC analysts
  • Advice for implementing automated approaches and useful resources to find out more.

Part 2

The Importance of Sample Preparation in Liquid Chromatography (LC) and Gas Chromatography (GC)
Sample preparation is a key aspect of successful liquid chromatography (LC) and gas chromatography (GC) separations. This virtual panel discussion will address the importance of sample preparation, practical aspects of sample preparation, the latest state-of-the-art techniques, and how you can find out more about new approaches to sample preparation.

The panelists for this session are Elia Psillakis of the School of Environmental Engineering, at the Technical University of Crete, in Greece; Manuel Miró of the Analytical Chemistry Department at the University of the Balearic Islands, in Spain; Stig Pedersen-Bjergaard of the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Oslo in Norway; and Marcela Segundo of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Porto, in Porto, Portugal

 Key Learning Objectives:

  • The importance and impact of sample preparation in chromatographic assays
  • Why you should pay more attention to sample preparation—and the benefits you will gain
  • Recent developments in sample preparation, such as innovative micro-scale sample preparation procedures
  • The role of the EuChemS–DAC Task Force and Network to advance sample preparation and help to improve your methods.
